Susan Katz-Sliski goes to Capitol Hill

On May 4th, our own Susan Katz-Sliski, Greater Boston AOHN, joined other Occupational Health and Safety Professionals at the State House in Boston for a presentation of Resolutions in recognition of NAOSH Week.

The annual North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (April 30-May 6) is an event intended to focus the attention of employers, employees, the general public, and all partners in occupational safety, health and the environment on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace. NAOSH Week is designed to:

  • Increase understanding of the benefits of investment in occupational health and safety
  • Raise awareness of the role and contribution of safety, health, and environmental professionals
  • Help reduce workplace injuries and illness by encouraging new health, safety, and environmental activities and interest in NAOSH Week

The AAOHN, American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, is one of the many organizations, companies and local communities that have joined with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) to increase public awareness of the importance of workplace safety and health during North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH).
"We are all working together to reduce death, injuries and illnesses in the workplace. Currently more than 5,000 people die on the job each year and four million more suffer from on-the-job illnesses and injuries every year.  NAOSH week emphasizes the importance of safety and health in the workplace," ASSE President Jack Dobson, Jr., CSP, said recently.
